Pastel and Charcoal Drawing

Pastel and Charcoal have been used by artists for centuries and are one of the easiest mediums to use. This course encourages artists to use true colours and methods to create artworks that pop and standout on the paper! The course will cover; the history of pastels and charcoals, the different types of pastels and charcoals, papers, techniques and tips. Students will be guided through different projects such as still life (flowers), animals and landscapes.

REQUIREMENTS Students need to bring a box of soft pastels/charcoals - Reeves are a good brand, kneadable eraser and wet wipes, A3 foam board for supporting the paper, colour shapers - one is enough to start with, a set of paper blending sticks.
Pastel pencils - white and black to start with. Tutor will supply initial paper, own paper will need to be supplied after week 3. Tutor will discuss paper options and advise students.
